Making It Look Stellar.
A big part of producing is figuring out how to get the best results from the talent and tools available. And to improvise when necessary. You’d think this shoot took place in a studio with all the lights and bounces and people you could ask for. It wasn’t. It took place in a cramped booth behind the stage at rowdy Nick’s, somewhere around Rockaway Beach south of San Francisco. I borrowed power from the guitarist’s amp, and pulled people off the dance floor when they got close enough, willing or not. Nobody complained about the results, least of all, me.
